Ken Sargent has worked with his hands all his life. He still has the lathe he got when he was 14 years old. He was in the U.S. Army Air Corps during the latter part of WWII and was a pilot and aircraft mechanic for a short period of time after the war was over. He built houses in Pennsylvania in the early fifties and moved to Florida in 1952 where he operated successful cabinet shops in St. Petersburg and LaBelle. He is the founder of Sargent's Cabinets, Inc.. Wood 'n Ceramics and Master Sargent Molds are divisions of the parent corporation.

Family life is very important to Ken. He has been married to his wife Betty since 1946. They have three sons, Tom, George, and Dick. They also have five grand-children and two great-grandchildren. Tom, the eldest, has carried on the tradition of the ceramic business and is now owner and operator of Master Sargent Molds. George carried on the wood working side of the business and now does business as George Sargent - Wood-Crafter. Dick is the wanderer of the family. Although, like his older brothers, Tom & George, he worked in the cabinet shop as a teenager, he worked outside the family businesses after he got married and moved away from home. Most of his work has been in photography and the retail trade. He also is owner of his own business, Image! Communications, which does publishing, photography, and web design.

Ken has been semi-retired for several years now, but will probably never really quit working. He likes to create too much. He completes intarsia and scroll-work and other wood-working projects when he can. Please buy some of his beautiful intarsia so he will have room on his walls to put up more new pieces.
