What can a mold be made from?
Almost any object can be used as a model. Clay,
sculpy, wood, stone, plaster, metal, ceramic, glass, plastic.
Will my original piece (model) be damaged?
Yes, in all probability.
Will the piece cast from the mold be exactly the same as the original
model?
No. The piece will be smaller than the original
due to two types of shrinkage. The greenware will shrink as it dries and
it will shrink even further when it is fired in a kiln. The shrinkage rate
for earthenware slip is approximately 10 to 15%. Porcelain shrinks about
20%.
How many pieces can I pour from my mold?
Usually at least 100.
Can you make more than one mold from my model?
Yes. By making a block & case (master), a large
number of molds can be made.
Can I buy something in a store and have you make a mold from it?
No. Most items purchased in stores are protected
by U.S. and International Copyright laws. You need written permission from
the original creator (copyright holder) of the piece to reproduce it.
